Jennifer Holloway, mezzo-soprano

Rapidly gaining increasing attention for her "vibrant mezzo-soprano and generous presence" (New York magazine), Jennifer Holloway is now a regular guest at major opera houses throughout the world. Her 2007-2008 season includes debuts at the Teatro Real, Madrid, as Irene in Handel's Tamerlano, Bordeaux Opera as Idamante in Idomeneo and Glyndebourne Festival Opera as Hansel in Hansel & Gretel, all new productions. In concert she will be singing in a Gala in Austin, Texas, the Mozart Requiem with the Pacific Symphony in Orange County, California, and performing Messiah with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra.
Jennifer Holloway made her debut with the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Teatro Regio di Parma in 2007 as the Baroness Aspasia in Rossini's La Pietra del Paragone and with Tulsa Opera as Mercédès in Carmen. She also returned to Pittsburgh Opera for Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette and the Third Woman in The Magic Flute.
Her debut with Santa Fe Opera came as Prince Charming in Laurent Pelly's production of Massenet's Cinderella. She has worked extensively with the Pittsburgh Opera, where she was heard in the title role in Pittsburgh Opera Center's production of Handel's Xerxes. Equally adept on the concert stage, she has appeared in concerts jointly presented by Omaha Opera and Symphony and has sung Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes as a guest artist at Hofstra University.
Ms. Holloway is also former participant in Opera Theatre of Saint Louis's Gerdine Young Artist Program, as well as the Chautauqua Institute where she sang the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and Badessa in Suor Angelica. She is a 2006 winner in Fort Worth Opera's McCammon Competition and the 2005 First Place Winner of the Georgia Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and has been awarded grants from the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation, Liederkranz Foundation, and the Hugo Ross Foundation.
Also frequent concert soloist, Ms. Holloway's oratorio experience encompasses performances of Vivaldi's Gloria, Mozart's Vesperae Solemnes, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, and Beethoven's Mass in C.
Ms. Holloway holds a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music. She first discovered opera while studying music education at the University of Georgia, from which she earned a Bachelor of Music.
