Santa Fe Opera Apprentice in 2005 & 2006

As a Santa Fe Opera apprentice in 2006, Jennifer Holloway lived her own “Cinderella” story. She took over the role of Prince Charming in Massenet’s Cinderella opposite Joyce DiDonato in a brilliant production directed by Laurent Pelly and scored a resounding success.  The previous year, as a first-year apprentice, she appeared in Osvaldo Golijov’s Ainadamar

This season Ms. Holloway makes her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Flora in La Traviata and she sings the Page in Salome at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni for Tulsa Opera , and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte with the Atlanta Opera. The American mezzo recently appeared as Irene in Tamerlano with Los Angeles Opera, the Page at the Teatro Real, Madrid, and Dorabella at Dallas Opera. She made her European debut in the 2006-2007 season at the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Théâtre du Châtelet as the Baroness Aspasia in Rossini’s La Pietra del Paragone. During the following season, she sang Idamante in Idomeneo at Opéra National de Bordeaux and Hansel in Laurent Pelly’s new production of Hansel and Gretel at Glyndebourne.

She has worked extensively with the Pittsburgh Opera, where her roles have included Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette, Third Lady in The Magic Flute, and the title role in Handel’s Xerxes. Other recent engagements include Dorabella in Brest, France, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro with Dallas Opera, and Meg in a new production of Falstaff at Glyndebourne.
