    TREASURES...

    Ostermiller, Barnyard Gossips, Matteucci

    BARNYARD GOSSIPS by Dan Ostermiller

    (b. 1945, American)
    An engaging, playful 27.5” x 5” x 26” bronze sculpture

The son of a well-known taxidermist in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dan Ostermiller's knowledge of the animal world is evident in the lifelike sculptures he creates. The rich patina and beautifully detailed texture are trademarks of the artist’s highly sought-after work. As renowned Santa Fe gallery owner Nedra Matteucci (who has represented Dan since 1986) writes, ''Dan began creating in clay a wonderful array of animal sculptures that remain unsurpassed in their originality and expressive form. He has maintained a wonderfully consistent artistic process and vision, working long hours toward an intimate understanding of his animal subjects, striving to achieve the moment when he can work spontaneously as he then quickly and deftly captures their essence and character in clay.''

Ostermiller's monumental works can be seen at the Wyoming State Capitol, Brookgreen Gardens, and the Denver Art Museum. He has sculpted and cast at the foundry in France that completed Rodin’s posthumous bronzes. His exceptional talent as an artist speaks for itself, as this life-sized bronze flawlessly depicts the whimsy of these mischievous creatures.

    Valued at $9,300.
