Concerts & Performances
Each year The Santa Fe Opera takes its act on the road! This spring our singers toured cities in New Mexico and Texas, offering over performances for school children along with free public concerts in Albuquerque, El Paso, TX, Las Vegas (NM), Lubbock, TX, Moriarty, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Socorro, and Tucumcari. An average of 12,000 audience members enjoy the Spring Opera Tour each year.
This spring's performances included a delightful work, titled Avastar which explored the relationship of two young singers who enter an online singing competition. Former Santa Fe Opera apprentices, soprano Sara Heaton, and tenor Joshua Dennis, were the featured singers in this year's concerts.
The Opera's Community Concerts are free and held in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and neighboring communities during the summer. Each performance features talented members of our Apprentice Program for Singers, performing a wide-ranging repertory of arias, songs of the season, musical theater selections, and sacred music. No reservations are necessary and open seating begins 30 minutes before the concert.
