Opera Makes Sense
A special program series created just for children (ages 3 to 5) to explore the world of opera's many art forms through a variety of activities and games. Special care is taken to address the different developmental levels of toddlers, allowing them to experience as much or as little as they like.
Each session opens with a general theme, such as forests, animals or family. Several activities illustrate the selected topic as participants move from one station to another based upon their personal interest level. Opera's various art forms are introduced through poetry and song, music and dance, along with costumes and art activities related to scenery and props—all translated through the five senses.
The series consists of five consecutive Saturdays at the Opera. Each session lasts approximately an hour and a half. Free and partial scholarships are available. For more information email: aquintanar@santafeopera.org or call 505-946-2404.
