Espanola Valley Opera Guild volunteers participate in education and community outreach programs focused on our Valley's youth. Guild programs and activities help introduce a new generation to the music of The Santa Fe Opera.
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
We will host our Winter Posole and Enchilada Party on Saturday, January 28, 2012, 5 to 8pm at Espanola's beautiful "Anthony's at the Delta." Guild members and guests can expect a variety of different gourmet posoles, enchiladas and desserts as well as two home-grown musical performances: Mariachi la Lluvia, a local Mariachi band from Espanola, and Choral students from Espanola Valley High School. Tickets are $10 at the door, and there will be raffle prizes which feature work of Northern New Mexico Artists.
A Youth Essay Contest is held each spring soliciting essays from Espanola and Pojoaque Valley schools on "Why I would like to take my family to The Santa Fe Opera." Winners are provided tickets for 4 members of their family to attend a Youth Night at the Opera performance. They are also invited to attend our "Tops Hats and Tiaras" dessert tailgate party thrown in their honor.
Espanola Valley Opera Guild members will be able to participate again this year in Preview Dinners and Opera Insider mornings. Dates for these will be announced in the spring.
Our Summer Membership Party features a performance by a Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Singer. Date and time to be announced.
Membership allows discounted performance tickets for our block seating dates. This year we will be attending three operas as a group. Our Annual Tailgate party is planned for August 18.
