The commitment of on-site volunteers, as well as the work of Guild members, is one of the most meaningful compliments to the Opera.

Volunteer Opportunities

From seasonal to year-round opportunities, there are many ways to volunteer at the Opera!

Opera Shop

Seasonal volunteers assist shop customers—responsibilities include packaging, folding and customer service assistance; in addition, day-time volunteers will be responsible for stocking and pricing merchandise. A commitment of 7 volunteer nights and/or days is needed.

Youth Night at the Opera Chaperones

These select dress rehearsals are open to children 6 to 18 years of age. Chaperones may assist with pre-performance educational activities, distributing flyers, related Pueblo Opera Program activities, or selling refreshments.

Administration

Volunteers are primarily needed for filing, alphabetizing and copying. Other departmental needs include assembling of mailings, collating, data entry, sorting of press clippings and computer-work. Training and instruction provided as needed.

Costume Shop

From stitching (hand and machine) to embroidery, needlepoint, beading and other special detail work, seasonal volunteers make costumes come to life. In the off-season, volunteers are sometimes needed to assist with the organization and maintenance of costume storage and stock.

School Support

Work in conjunction with Santa Fe Opera staff and our Artists-in-Residence on local youth projects. These projects are site-based partnerships with area schools.
