    Position Detail

    Assistant to the Director of External Affairs

    Type: Year-Round
    Department: Development

    Description

    Currently, the company is seeking an Assistant to the Director of External Affairs.

    Requirements

    The Assistant will provide high level administrative support, as follows:

    Solicitation Support – Assist in maintaining the Director of External Affairs’ portfolio of donors including board members, assigning tasks and monitoring solicitation progress; track all moves in the Tessitura data base; draft solicitation letters, donor correspondence and acknowledgments; schedule meetings and appointments; prepare briefing memos for key solicitors (management and board)

    Board Activities – Provide support for committees as assigned.

    Campaign Planning – Assist Director in planning public phase of major capital campaign.   Support development of campaign literature and support materials, etc.

    Prospect Research – Assist in conducting research, as needed, for new major gifts prospects, board candidates, and campaign prospects; prepare research profiles

    Special Events – Assist with event organization, as needed.

    Tessitura Support – Maintain accurate donor records, lists, solicitation tracking entries, constituency codes, and reports in Tessitura (viz. annual fundraising reports)

    Stewardship – Assist in ensuring that major donors receive exceptional stewardship.

    Administrative Support – general support for the Director of External Affairs.

    Excellent writing skills; clear communication style; detail oriented, accurate, forward thinking and creative.  Calm, professional demeanor.  Proficiency with Microsoft office software and other applicable software.  Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals.  A college degree and prior experience, which may include internship experience, in a closely related position is preferred.
