2008-10-23
Well-known Wall Street Journal drama critic, biographer, and blogger Terry Teachout is the librettist for 2009's world premiere opera, The Letter, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec. Teachout and Moravec are longtime friends (they're even neighbors), and this unique relationship, as well as the challenges and great rewards of being a first-time librettist and first-time opera composer, are chronicled in Terry Teachout's wonderful series of blogs about the making of The Letter. Click here to read Terry's blog entries on "About Last Night" (an ArtsJournal.com weblog), which give a behind-the-scenes look at Teachout and Moravec's continuing journey towards a world premiere at The Santa Fe Opera.
