Special Events Manager


Paid Internship

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Special Events Manager, the Special Events Intern is responsible for assisting with the preparation and execution of events associated with the summer season’s activities.  This includes the Opening Weekend Celebration, Opening Night Dinners, the Summer Gala, and Cast and Company recognition parties following performances, along with other donor and board-related events.  

Specific Responsibilities:

The Special Events Intern will be a critical team member in planning and executing each of the summer’s special events. Specific duties will include designing and disseminating invitations, tracking responses including dietary restrictions and seating preferences, assisting with performance seating charts for opening weekend, calling and emailing guests both for follow-up and as courtesy calls, assisting with set-up and take-down for each event, and interacting with other SFO departments, along with vendors, caterers, and guests.


Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.  Proactive and independent work style; also ability to work as a member of a team.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. .  Computer skills with Windows-based environment required (including Word and Excel); experience with a relational database highly preferred. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Fundraising knowledge a plus, but not required.
