The Santa Fe Opera is currently accepting supernumerary submissions for non-singing / non-speaking positions for our 2023 festival productions of Tosca (Stage Director Keith Warner), The Flying Dutchman (Stage Director David Alden), Pelléas et Mélisande (Stage Director Netia Jones), and Rusalka (Stage Director Sir David Pountney).
Please see the below breakdown for specific production dates and actor breakdowns. All positions are paid and require flexible daytime availability for rehearsals.

Pay for the entire engagement ranges from $3,000 to $5,000 depending on the number of performances and the production needs. Supernumeraries must be local or provide their own local housing.
Submissions will be reviewed starting February 28 and submissions will continue to be accepted until all positions are filled.
Production Breakdowns/Information
Tosca – Giacomo Puccini
Ensemble: Seeking a total of 6 ensemble members (Open ethnicity; 4 male-presenting and 2 female-presenting; ages 25 – 45) to serve the production by playing various non-speaking parts including clergy, officers, theatrical performers, etc. African American performers are encouraged to submit.
Tosca body double/Ensemble: (African American; female-presenting) In addition to the ensemble description, this performer should match the physical description of Leah Hawkins (https://www.leahhawkinssoprano.com/) or Angel Blue (https://angeljoyblue.com/) who are singing the role of Tosca.
Angelotti body double/Ensemble: (African American; male-presenting) In addition to the ensemble description, this performer should match the physical description of Blake Denson (https://www.blakeadenson.com/) who is singing Angelotti. Performer must be comfortable at high heights.

The Flying Dutchman – Richard Wagner
Seeking 8 ensemble members (Open ethnicity; male-presenting) to serve the production as the Dutchman’s ghost crew and sailors. Especially seeking people with physical athleticism, physical theatre/movement experience, and/or aerial circus experience.

Pelléas et Mélisande – Claude Debussy
Seeking 3 physical performers to play ‘doppelgangers’ of Pelléas, Mélisande, and Golaud. Physical theatre / movement experience is a plus.
Pelléas doppelganger: (Open ethnicity; male-presenting; Age 25-40) Grandson of King Arkel, Younger brother to Prince Golaud. This is a non-singing shadow performer who should be a match in appearance to the principal artists singing Pelléas: Huw Montague Rendall (https://www.huwmontaguerendall.com).
Mélisande doppelganger: (Open ethnicity; female-presenting; Age 25-40) Wife of Prince Golaud. This is a non-singing shadow performer who should match in appearance to the principal artist singing Mélisande: Samantha Hankey (https://www.samanthahankey.com/).
Golaud doppelganger: (Open ethnicity; male-presenting; Age 25-40) Grandson of King Arkel, Older brother to Pelléas. This is a non-singing shadow performer who should match in appearance to the principal artist singing Golaud: Gihoon Kim. Performers of Asian descent are encouraged to submit.
