Security Guard

 

Title: Security Guard
Reports to: Security Supervisor & Facilities Manager
Department: Facilities

Duties/Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment on the Opera campus. In this role, you will report to the Security Supervisor and the Facilities Manager. Security guard responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the campus security phone, entry gate operation and access control
  • Conduct hourly patrols of the Opera grounds and facilities
  • Lead all aspects of communications and notifications in response to alarm systems
  • Maintain vigilance to surroundings and ability to respond to any issue on campus in a timely manner and notify appropriate supervisors of an incident
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property
  • Be proactive and have an eye for detail
  • Other duties as assigned

Employment Standards

Knowledge:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum one-year prior experience in a security role
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with others
  • Ability to prepare detail incident reports and maintain accurate log reports of daily activities

Skills:

  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner with others.  Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must possess the ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, directives, and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate log reports of daily activities.
  • Familiarity with use of radio and mobile communication devices
  • Ability to access and operate company vehicles

Hours/Restrictions:

  • Up to 40 hours per week with occasional overtime
  • Availability to work any shift – Some flexibility of hours may occur due to scheduled events during the course of the year and early arrival is occasionally necessary
  • Weekend work is required
  • Applicant must be able to work up to 12 hours per shift on occasion
  • Applicant must be able to accommodate occasional on-call shifts

Employment Standards:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Capable of spending significant amount of time on your feet walking, standing and climbing stairs
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and poses a clear MVD record

Licenses:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Uniform:

A uniform (shirt) is required and will be provided
