Santa Fe, NM — For the fifth year in a row, the Santa Fe Opera and 95.5 KHFM Classical Public Radio present free Opening Nights radio broadcasts of the opera’s 2025 Season. The broadcasts celebrate the opera’s ongoing commitment to bringing the joy of opera to Santa Fe, Española, Los Alamos, Albuquerque and communities throughout New Mexico and beyond. This partnership also features an Opening Nights Ticket Giveaway, allowing audiences the chance to win an evening of tailgating and open-air opera with KHFM on-air hosts.
Santa Fe Opera Opening Nights on KHFM
The Santa Fe Opera and 95.5 KHFM Classical Public Radio present free, live-recorded radio broadcasts of the opera’s 2025 Season opening nights. Listeners in communities throughout New Mexico, nationally and internationally can enjoy music from the Santa Fe Opera from the comfort of their homes, vehicles and streaming devices. Following each air date, broadcasts are available for free, on-demand streaming on the santafeopera.org and khfm.org websites for 30 days.
To listen, tune in to 95.5 KHFM Classical Public Radio or stream online at khfm.org at 6:00 pm MDT on July 28, August 4, 11, 18 and 25. Each broadcast features opening night performances recorded live from The Crosby Theatre: Puccini’s La bohème, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Verdi’s Rigoletto, Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Wagner’s Die Walküre. Soprano, educator and KHFM host Kathlene Ritch is joined by tenor, Santa Fe Opera Chief Artistic Advisor and co-host David Lomelí; together they provide commentary in English and Spanish.

About the 2025 Season — Opening Weekend centers on a new production of Puccini’s La bohème directed by James Robinson and a remount of 2021’s beloved production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro directed by Laurent Pelly. From July 12, the company presents a new production of Verdi’s Rigoletto by Julien Chavaz in an international co-production with Irish National Opera and Opera Zuid. Opening July 19 is Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, staged by Louisa Muller in a Canadian Opera Company production originated at Garsington Opera. Rounding out the season on July 26 is Wagner’s masterpiece Die Walküre, presented by the company for the first time in a new production by director Melly Still. To best accommodate audiences, all performances of Die Walküre will begin at 8:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now at santafeopera.org.
