Up Next: Working with Costumes
Saturday, March 2, 1:00-4:00PM
Led by Brianna Fristoe, Santa Fe Opera Stock & Rental Coordinator
Enjoy a tour through the costume storage rooms and accessory vault, and see the treasures held in fabric storage. Learn the basics of costume care from the professionals, including how to hang clothes for proper storage, types of hangers and their uses, the effects of light and temperature damage, and how to keep moths away. Additional topics include restocking items properly, measuring clothes, how to catagorize costumes by type and how to create a numerical inventory system. This hands-on workshop will also provide practical skill-building instruction on fit, possible alterations, and clothes for an artist by working with their measurements. Finally, participants will have fun putting together costumes from the abundant storage facility using measurements and a particular time period to create a specific look for a character.
Free to highschool students, but enrollment is limited. Reserve your space by February 27, 2019 (apply below).
