Pueblo Opera Program

The Pueblo Opera Program (POP), founded in 1973, reaches more than 1,000 Native American children from New Mexico’s 21 pueblos and reservations. A hallmark of POP is reciprocating Pueblo hospitality in the areas of music, dance and drama. The program is guided by an advisory committee which includes many past participants and elders from the pueblos and reservations. POP has led generations of children to discover that, through its universal themes and emotions, opera readily continues to have meaning for the youth of today.
