The Next Generation … Center Stage

The opera’s singing and technical apprentices take the mainstage spotlight for two unique evenings of staged scenes. These evenings are fun-filled “sampler boxes” of operatic styles. They are a great introduction to opera and a great value for families to enjoy an evening out. Our apprentice programs have launched numerous distinguished careers and these two evenings are the perfect opportunity to experience the future of opera – onstage now.

Since its beginnings, The Santa Fe Opera has offered aspiring singers the opportunity to obtain advanced training and professional experience as they build a career in opera. A sister program was also created, to give theater technicians hands-on training in all areas of production. The concept, developed by founder, John Crosby, flourishes today as the internationally recognized Apprentice Programs for Singers and Technicians. The programs have launched numerous distinguished careers, including those of Sam Ramey, William Burden, Joyce DiDonato, Michael Fabiano, Brandon Jovanovich, Kate Lindsey, Jay Hunter Morris, and Susanna Phillips to name a few.
