All Aboard for the Opera!
The Santa Fe Opera and Rio Metro Regional Transit District Have Launched a Late-Night Train Service for all Friday and Saturday Performances for Patrons South of Santa Fe.
A special late-night Rail Runner train will run after Friday and Saturday night performances (except July 4th) providing opera-goers from Albuquerque and all communities in between with a convenient round-trip option by rail. Those traveling from Santa Fe should book our regular shuttle services.
This transportation package is offered: July 3, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and August 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29.
Rail Runner Train Package
- $25 per person (round trip)
- Estimated arrival at the opera: 30 minutes prior to performance time
- Includes round-trip day pass for rail transportation from NMRX stations starting in Albuquerque and all stops in between to the Santa Fe Depot
- Includes round-trip shuttle transportation from the Santa Fe Depot to the Santa Fe Opera
- Tickets must be purchased by 3 pm the day before; they may sell out earlier
- Please note that opera tickets are sold separately and can be purchased online, in person at the Box Office, or over the phone by calling 505-986-5900 (Monday – Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm)
- The Santa Fe Opera is not responsible for Rio Metro delays
- The Rail Runner Train Package is intended solely for patrons south of Santa Fe.
Your Opera Evening Itinerary
Enjoy an afternoon of shopping, dining or strolling in the Railyard District before boarding a shuttle to the Santa Fe Opera. A Santa Fe Opera representative will be onsite one hour before shuttle departure to answer questions and greet guests.
Arrival by Rail Runner Train:
- On Fridays, arrive no later than on the 6:07 pm train into the Santa Fe Depot
- On Saturdays, arrive no later than the 4:56 pm train into the Santa Fe Depot
Santa Fe Depot Shuttle departure times:
- 7:55 pm (Fridays & Saturdays, July 3 – August 1), 8:30 pm performances
- 7:25 pm (Fridays & Saturdays, August 3 – August 29), 8:00 pm performances
Shuttle pickup location:
- Montezuma Avenue Bus Stop, near Beastly Books at the end of the pedestrian walkway at the Santa Fe Depot between the Vladem Contemporary Museum and the Jean Cocteau Cinema
Late-Night Train departure times:
- Train departures vary depending on each show’s runtime and depart approximately 45 minutes after the performance concludes
- All confirmed passengers will be accommodated before departure
Santa Fe Opera shuttle departure:
- The shuttle from the opera to the Santa Fe Depot will depart approximately 15 minutes after the performance ends

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the New Mexico Rail Runner, award-winning soprano and Director of the Santa Fe Opera Young Voices Program, Amy Owens, will treat riders to a selection of operatic arias on the #708 Northbound train, which departs Downtown Albuquerque at 3:11 pm and arrives at the Santa Fe Depot at 4:56 pm.
