Celebrating 70 Seasons of Open-Air Opera

Announcing the 2027 Season: Thirty-eight performances. Five extraordinary operas. It’s a season not to be missed.

Santa Fe, NM — When John Crosby founded the Santa Fe Opera in 1956, he had an audacious idea: that world-class opera could flourish in the high desert of New Mexico — and that adventurous programming, extraordinary artists, and a setting unlike anywhere else in the world could draw audiences from across the country and around the globe to this remote and magnificent place.

Seventy seasons later, that vision continues to inspire and evolve. On Tuesday, May 12, the Santa Fe Opera will announce the repertory and casting plans for its 2027 Season, along with several significant leadership and programming updates. Tune in at 10:30 a.m. MDT to view the season announcement video and discover what’s in store for this landmark anniversary season.
